The Friends of the Sioux City Public Library Book Lovers Book Sale concluded on April 16 and was the largest book sale the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library has held. An estimated 100,000 volumes in 2,500+ very heavy boxes amassed from 3 years of donations were sorted, moved, and organized by our volunteers. This was a huge undertaking, but the Sioux City area community rose to the occasion.
A big “THANK YOU” to all those in the community who volunteered either as individuals or as a part of an organization. We recorded over 1,000 hours from our 200+ volunteers! This venture would not have been possible without your time, help and enthusiasm in making it happen. The response of the Sioux City community was nothing short of amazing and showed that the Library’s efforts are supported and valued.
Proceeds from the sale enable the Friends to give back to the community by funding special initiatives at the Library like the Summer Reading Programs, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and other initiatives.
Speaking of Summer Reading, the Library is getting ready for a summer to “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” Sign up for our Kids & Families emails which will have the most up-to-date info: www.siouxcitylibrary.org/kidsevents/
Donations will be accepted again starting May 3. For more information on how to donate please visit: www.siouxcitylibrary.org/book-and-media-donations/
Again, thank you for your support.
