Marla Kerr, President of the Loess Hills Audubon Society, will also share information about the current threats to birds and simple actions we can take to help protect them and enhance their habitat, citizen science aspects of data collection, bird watching tips, and birding app and book recommendations.

The Loess Hills Audubon Society has donated a Young Birders Backpack Kit to the Sioux City Public Library! Thanks to a generous Mildred Anderson grant from the Juniour League of Sioux City, the Loess Hills Audubon Society was able to provide a birding backpack for kids that is available for checkout by full-access Sioux City Library cardholders that are 18+.

Come learn about the history of the National Audubon Society and the Loess Hills Audubon Society from Randy Williams, member of the Loess Hills Audubon Society. Randy will also introduce us to the sport of birding (and share intel on local birding hotspots!) and highlight some of the tools — both old and new — available to help people become involved in this highly rewarding activity.
