Alice Hoffman, the spellbinding author behind bestseller like The Marriage of Opposites and Here on Earth, joined Sioux City Library’s Jenn Delperdang and Kelsey Patterson on The First Fifty Pages podcast. Hoffman talked about the magic of books and her latest novel, much beloved Practical Magic series’ final installment, The Book of Magic.

“When I was writing the Book of Magic, I cried the whole time I was writing it. I still read it and I still cry,” said Alice Hoffman. “Life is love, but it is also loss and as these characters get older and things happen then there is loss involved. That was hard for me as a writer.”

The First Fifty Pages is a collaboration between the Sioux City Public Library and Sioux City’s local NPR station, KWIT-KOJI. Hosts Kelsey Patterson and Jenn Delperdang interview authors, discuss what they’re reading, what’s popular in our community, and what’s happening at the Library. Who knows, they might even help you find your next great read! Highlighting the amazing work that libraries do, this podcast is not to be missed.
